Radio Control Helicopter Review of the E-flite Blade mSR

I went to a local hobby shop to buy a radio control helicopter that I can fly indoors yet challenging enough to fly. Seeing some great youtube videos and reviews, I decide to buy an E-flite Blade mSR micro heli.

You can buy a ready to fly (RTF) or a Bind and Fly (BNF) version. If you already have a 4-channel 2.4GHz DSM2 transmitter, then just buy the BNF version. I bought the RTF as I did not have a transmitter.

Technical Specifications

The Blade mSR is an ultra micro fixed pitch, single rotor radio controlled helicopter. It is only 7.5in long and weights 28gms with battery. It is 100% assembled with DSM2 receiver, ESCs, gyros and servos.

Out of the box the kit comes with a Lipo charger and two Lipo batteries. The charger can charger up to 4 batteries simultaneously. Charging time is approximately 20 minutes, while flight time is around 5 to 7 minutes. Relatively short especially when you are having so much fun flying. Good that the kit came with two battery packs.

Review and Recommendation

This 4-channel micro heli gives you a lot of flight control. Up/down, left/right, front/back flying capabilities. Here are photos and instructions on how to fly the Blade mSR.

It took me around two battery packs before I learned how to hover and get the heli off the ground. A few more battery packs later I felt very comfortable and confident in flying that I decided to fly outdoors in my backyard. See video below.

The great thing about the Blade mSR is it has great stability and is very, very fast for a micro helicopter. And even in slightly windy conditions, it is a capable outdoor flying machine.

Bottom line, I highly recommend this radio control helicopter. So far I fly this everyday at it is both relaxing and fun. If you can't find this in your local hobby shop, here is a list of recommended online stores where you can buy this model.
