How To Fly an R/C Helicopter
Here are lessons from my E-flight Blade mSR manual on how to fly a 4-channel micro helicopter using either Mode 2 or Mode 1 setting. I personally use Mode 2. Thanks E-flight for including an easy to understand flying manual. Important to keep your movements slow and smooth. RC Helicopter Climb or Fly Upward
Gently (and I mean gently and very slowly), push the throttle stick forward/upward. RC Helicopter Descend or Fly Downward
Gently (and I mean gently and very slowly), push the throttle stick backward/downward. RC Helicopter Turn Left
Move left hand stick to the left will turn the nose to the left (or rotate the helicopter counterclockwise). RC Helicopter Turn Right
Move left hand stick to the right will turn the nose to the right (or rotate the helicopter clockwise). RC Helicopter Moving Forward
Push the elevator stick forward. This will pitch the nose down and move the helicopter forward. RC Helicopter Fly Backwards
Pull the elevator stick backwards. This will pitch the nose up and move the helicopter backward (i.e. reverse). RC Helicopter Slide to the Left
Move the aileron stick to the left will make the heli move and fly sideways to the left. This is banking left. The nose of the helicopter does not turn left. RC Helicopter Slide to the Right
Move the aileron stick to the right will make the heli move and fly sideways to the right. This is banking right. The nose of the helicopter does not turn right. As you can see, even a 4-channel remote control helicopter can be challenging (but exciting) to fly. You are trying to subconciously control 4 different controls simultaneously. For me it took me 2 battery packs to even get my radio control helicopter off the ground! But after 2 days of practise I am now comfortable flying/hovering and can avoid crash landings. .
